Eight years in: growth as clarity
Datics AI started with AI and data science in 2018. Eight years later, the biggest lesson is that growth does not always mean becoming broader.
When I founded Datics AI in 2018 with my brother, Rana Umar Majeed, the focus was simple: build a strong technology company around AI, data, and engineering.
A lot has changed since then. The problems became bigger. The products became more complex. Our team and capabilities expanded. And the kind of company we wanted to become became much clearer.
From intelligence to product engineering
We started with AI and data science. But as we worked deeper inside real software products, we realized that intelligence alone was not enough.
To make AI useful, we also had to understand the application around it: the workflows, data, permissions, integrations, architecture, users, and business logic that already existed. That pushed us deeper into product engineering, and it changed the kind of problems we became good at solving.
A U.S. chapter
Over time, we also expanded our commercial presence into the U.S. through Datics Solutions LLC, which now serves as our U.S. headquarters. I do not think of that as building a second company. It is the next chapter of the same one. Datics AI is where the company, team, and technical foundation were built. Datics Solutions LLC brings that capability closer to the customers, partners, and software companies we want to work with in the U.S.
Becoming clearer, not broader
One of the biggest lessons for me has been that growth does not always mean becoming broader. Sometimes growth means becoming much clearer about what you want to be known for.
For us, that clarity comes down to one area: helping established SaaS companies make AI a meaningful part of products that already have customers, workflows, data, integrations, and years of history behind them. We describe that specialization as Brownfield AI.
Built by people
An anniversary is also a reminder that companies are built by people. The team in Pakistan represents the foundation, capability, and culture that made Datics possible, through every stage of its evolution.
Eight years in, it feels less like we are starting something new and more like we finally have enough experience to know exactly where we want to go next.
